My name is VinodKaria and I was born in Kampala, Uganda. I left Uganda with my family due to political crisis to Leicester, UK, studied Electronic Wiring and Circuit Testing and then moved to Toronto, Canada in 1974.
In Toronto, I studied several computer Languages, got married to Dhiraj [Usha] Raja in 1977, decided to immigrate to Atlanta, Georgia in the same year. Believe me it was very easy to get visas/immigration at that time.
Luckily I got a job within few weeks after arriving in Atlanta and I got settled near Avondale Estates, which is close to Memorial Drive. I continued my education in Business Administration while I was still working at J C Penneys. During this time I met few Guajarati’s and got involved with Gujarati Samaj in 1980.
In the past I have worked as a Board of Governor and recently I have worked as a Secretary. Both of my sons Shilan and Jinesh were born in Decatur, Georgia and now they are also married and settled in Atlanta and Austin, Texas. I am proud of my two daughter-in-laws KhushbooShilanKaria and DhanashriJineshKaria.
My hobbies are gardening, doing Sudoku puzzles, photography, wedding videography, playing cards, Face Book, Cruising, playing Table Tennis, walking, climbing Stone Mountain and doing volunteer work for Gujarati Samaj and Senior Citizen groups.
I retired from Delta Airlines and I am presently working with IBM. I am planning to retire soon and enjoy special moments with my grandsons Tej and Ved and Ayush.
